Partnership history
Bloomberg and our organization have been collaborating since 2008, with ongoing activities throughout the year, also featured in APAC training programs. We now have a comprehensive annual contract with a high degree of flexibility in accepting activities.
Comprehensive Approach to Tackling River/Marine Litter
Together with Bloomberg L.P., we address river/marine litter through a holistic approach combining education and action via three pillars: talk sessions, fieldwork, and indoor activities. This initiative is a meaningful step toward a sustainable future.
1. Talk Sessions: Raising Awareness through Dialogue
As an expert and practitioner in tackling river and marine litter, we lead talk sessions addressing this critical issue. The discussions cover a wide range of topics, including the impact of river/marine litter on ecosystems, human health, and the economy.
- Frank environmental lecture: As environmental experts share the insights.
- Interactive Q&A: Participants can ask questions and contribute to the discussion.
2. Fieldwork: Hands-on Experience in Tackling River/Marine Litter
Participants take part in fieldwork activities. This hands-on experience allows volunteers and corporate teams to directly engage with marine litter issues by conducting clean-up operations on river/coastal areas.
- River Clean-ups: Teams work together to remove plastic waste and debris from shorelines.
- Data Collection: Participants contribute to scientific research by collecting data on the types and amounts of waste found.
3. Indoor Activities: Developing Solutions and Raising Awareness
We move indoors for activities that focus on solution development and awareness campaigns. These activities provide a platform for participants to reflect on their fieldwork, brainstorm innovative ideas, and collaborate on projects that can further reduce marine litter.
- Workshops: Interactive sessions that encourage creative thinking and problem-solving.
- Educational Exhibits: Displays and presentations on the impact of marine pollution and solutions.
- Action Planning: Teams collaborate to create actionable plans for reducing waste and promoting sustainability within their organizations.
We offer a fun, hands-on activity for parents and children to learn about river/marine litter. Participants can create keychains using microplastics, allowing families to explore the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans while crafting a unique, eco-conscious item. This workshop is a great opportunity to raise awareness about environmental issues in a creative and educational setting.
Special Program / Wetland conservation project
Wetlands are vital ecosystems, however they are under threat from human activities such as landfill, pollution and climate change etc….
Mudskippers (Periophthalmus), amphibious fish found in tidal zones, serve as an ideal indicator species for wetland health due to their sensitivity to environmental changes. This conservation program focuses on using mudskippers to monitor the well-being of coastal wetlands.
Key objectives include monitoring mudskipper populations, assessing environmental health, and restoring degraded habitats.
By using mudskippers as indicators, this program aims to enhance biodiversity, promote wetland conservation, and inform policy decisions, ultimately leading to healthier, more resilient ecosystems.

河川/海洋ごみ問題への包括的アプローチ
私たちは、Bloomberg L.P.と協働して、河川/海洋ごみ問題に取り組んでいます。 トークセッション、フィールドワーク、室内アクティビティの3つを通じて、学びと行動を結びつけた包括的なアプローチです。 持続可能な未来を作るための大きな一歩です。
1. トークセッション: 対話で理解を深める
河川/海洋ごみ問題解決に向けた専門家かつ実践者として、同問題に関するトークセッションをしています。 河川/海洋ごみが、生態系、健康、そして経済に与える影響など、さまざまなトピックを取り上げます。
- 講話: 環境問題の専門家（Ph.D. (Eng.)）としての知見を共有します。
- インタラクティブQ&A: オンラインの場合はチャット機能なども活用して意見交換をします。
2. フィールドワーク: 実践
川岸や沿岸地域での清掃活動を通じて、河川/海洋ごみ問題の現実を体感します。
- クリーンアップ: チームが協力して河川や海岸から人工系ごみを除去します。
- 収集したごみの種類や量に関するデータは、International Coastal Cleanupに提供し、科学研究に貢献します。
3. 室内ワークショップ: 解決策を考え、行動につなげる
これまでの経験をもとに解決策を考えます。フィールドワークで学んだことを振り返り、アイディアを出し合い、海洋ごみを減らすためのプロジェクトに取り組みます。
- ワークショップ: アイディアを出し合い、問題解決の手法を話し合います。
- ワークショップ: 荒川の土からマイクロプラスチックを取り出す体験。
海洋ごみ問題を学ぶために親子向けのマイクロプラスチックを使ったキーホルダーづくりの実績もあります。
特別プログラム / 湿地保全プロジェクト
湿地は近年最も失われた生態系の１つです。埋立て、汚染、気候変動などの人間活動によって脅かされている環境です。
トビハゼ（Periophthalmus）は、干潟に生息する魚類で、環境変化に敏感なため、湿地の健全度を示す理想的な指標種です。この保全プログラムでは、トビハゼを用いて沿岸性湿地の健全性をモニタリングすることに重点を置いています。
当該プログラムの主な目的には、トビハゼの個体群をモニタリングし、湿地の状態を評価し、劣化した生息地を回復することを含みます。
トビハゼを指標として活用することで、生物多様性の向上、湿地保全の促進、政策決定への影響を目指し、最終的にはより健康で強靭な生態系の保全を目指します。
